Red Drum, Redfish as they are commonly called rank a close second to Snook as Florida's favorite shallow water game and table fish. This hearty, schooling fish is a fast-growing indiscriminate eater and can be found both onshore and offshore alike.
Redfish in the slot typically live in relatively shallow water; flats, sides of passes, the beaches in summer and around structure all year long. If you find shellfish or mullet, you'll find the reds! Redfish have hard mouths, hit hard and fight like hell!
The inspiration for this design comes from the little know fact that the waters close to Macdill Airforce base have some the largest holes in the state!
They were created in the 50's when Uncle Sam tested bombs around the bottom of the dew drop piece of land at commonly known as south Tampa. These giant craters provide unique and attractive shelter to little rat reds and Monster Dots alike! Those waters are now restricted, so make a buddy on base and rent a boat!
